Announcement Dates
Finalists will be notified by March 31, 2026. Announcement of winners will take place during a presentation ceremony at the Safety 2026 16th World Conference on Injury Prevention & Safety Promotion.

Category Descriptions and Guidelines
Web/Online
What qualifies:
Websites, social media platforms (eg, Facebook, X, SMS text, Instagram, etc.), web banners, video games, blogs, etc.
How to submit:
To enter this category, please provide the title and a link to the media entry within the entry form.
What qualifies:
Magazine or newspaper advertisements, posters, brochures, photography, painting, etc.
How to submit:
Print entries can be submitted as a PDF document uploaded within the entry form.
Video
What qualifies:
TV commercials, music videos, public service announcements, edutainment clips, etc. Videos are divided into two categories:
- Short Videos: Videos with a length of 3 – 30 minutes.
- Ultra Short Videos: Videos with a length of less than 3 minutes.
How to submit:
Videos can be submitted via a link to YouTube or other website link. If your video is too large to upload to YouTube, please mail it on a flash drive, along with a copy of your entry form.
Campaign
What qualifies:
Integrated campaigns that include multiple media elements (such as print, video, web, etc.). Campaigns are divided into two categories:
- ≥50,000 Campaigns: Campaigns with a budget of $50,000 USD or more.
- <$50,000 Campaigns: Campaigns with a budget of less than $50,000 USD.
How to submit:
If you have a campaign with multiple components (for example, a short video, website, and print ad), you have two options:
- Enter each component as a separate entry in their respective categories (Print, Video, Web/Online, etc.), OR
- Enter them all together in one submission under the appropriate campaign category
Important: If you submit individual pieces as part of a campaign entry, those same pieces may not also be submitted as separate individual entries. You may submit multiple campaigns and multiple individual entries overall.
How Submissions are Scored
Scoring rubric
- Production quality should be intentional to enhance the intention of the message (it does not have to be “big city” ad agency polished.)
- Audience was well defined and strategically chosen to meet message objectives.
- Message was focused and designed to meet stated objectives.
- Message was designed to have persuasive strength for the intended audience.
- Message/campaign is built on a relevant theoretical framework.
- Evaluation methods were well chosen to measure outcomes, and outcome goals were met.
Questions In Submission Form
- What problem or concern are you trying to address?
- Describe your focus and objectives: What were your goals for the messaging? How did you define success for your work?
- What theoretical framework did you use to design your message?
- Describe your intended audience(s) including demographic information and any behavioral and motivational insights you have regarding the audience.
- Was your media or campaign evaluated? If so, describe the process and outcomes.
- For Campaign entries only: Estimated campaign budget including costs of the planning, creative process, production, and dissemination, including cash and in-kind costs
Rules and Information
AGREEMENT
By entering the media awards, the entrant warrants that the entry is an original work created by the entrant and that the use or reproduction of the entry by the ISMA organizers for educational purposes or to promote ISMA will not infringe the copyright or any other intellectual property of any third party.
By submitting an entry, the contestant(s) give The International Safety Media Awards and partners the right to disseminate the media in part or whole in any medium. Copyright of the entry will remain with the entrant.
JUDGING PROCEDURES
Judging will be conducted by the panel of International Safety Media Awards judges in accordance with the guidelines outlined in this document. Decisions by judges, including eligibility, qualifications and appropriate category placement, are final.
MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS
You may submit multiple entries in as many categories as you like. However, if you choose to enter multiple pieces in the campaign category, they may not also be entered individually.
For example: If you have an impaired driving campaign with a short video, website, and print ad, you may either:
- Enter those as separate entries in their respective categories, OR
- Enter them all in one submission under the campaign category
EDIT SUBMISSIONS
Submissions may be edited before the submission deadline.
ACCURATE CONTACT INFORMATION
Ensure all your personal details are entered accurately, including contact details.
SUBMITTING ENTRIES BY MAIL
If an online submission of media is not possible, a hard copy of the entry or an electronic version (in.pdf or .jpg format) on a flash drive may be mailed to the Center Safe Alaskans at 4241 B Street, Suite 100, Anchorage, Alaska 99503, United States. Please understand that these will not be returned. Include a copy of the entry form with the entry.
